I wrote this song while doing community arts work in the remote town of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. While I was there, I experienced a number of incredibly powerful dust storms. There was something mystical about these dust storms and after a number of discussions with some local, spiritual Indigenous women, I discovered that these dust storms carry bad luck. As I watched the next dust storm roll in over the desert horizon, I started thinking about whether there was anyone in the town who, instead of seeing the dust storm as bad luck, were eagerly awaiting the storm to hit, hoping it would carry them away...
